My Reading Life – Heather Kreke

by Heather Kreke @HKreke

I don’t know about you, but I find myself re-reading the same books over and over again. When I pick up Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, Narnia, and a few others – okay a lot of others – it’s like coming home again. I’m reunited with my favorite characters and I get to experience their stories again.

I’m not saying I don’t read anything new. I’m constantly finding new authors and reading new books by my favorite authors. And my TBR pile is plenty large enough that I’m never struggling to find my next read. But as exciting as discovering new heroes, heroines, and storied are, I just find a level of comfort in re-reading one of the stories I liked the best.

Today on my Reading Life Heather Kreke shares about her reading life. #readingcomunity #reading Share on X

I have probably read Narnia and The Hunger Games once a year for the past few years. Other’s I’ll pull out at less frequent intervals, depending on the mood I’m in. Sure I know what’s going to happen and I can never experience the plot twists in the same way I did the first time around. But it seems, no matter how many times I’ve read them, I find a scene I’ve forgotten, or a line that stands out more than it has in the past. Maybe it’s the different circumstances happening in my life each time I read the story or maybe I read it too fast the last time and missed something, but I normally find myself going “How do I not remember this from before?”

It’s almost like talking with a friend you’ve known for years and discovering something new. Something you probably should have known and are surprised you didn’t, but being surprised makes it more fun.

Do you find yourself re-reading your favorite books?
