My Reading Life – Robin Densmore Fuson
As a writer, I read. As a lover of words, description, imagery, and story, I read. As a reviewer, I read. I’m blessed having read numerous books that took me to places I’ve never been and introduced me to amazing characters both heroes/heroines and a few nefarious individuals.
As I read those marvelous books, my imagination soared. My heart raced. Knuckles clutched in my teeth. Moments of ‘ah’ and delight. Moments when I scrambled for tissues. Moments when I wished I painted worlds with words in such dramatic fashion.
The Bible, Bible studies, and devotions are a major part of my reading life. I study and scour passages that back up the topic at hand. As a Bible study facilitator, I search for more references or verses and commentators. When I can, I look up the original words and pour through dictionaries and thesaurus. Right now, my group is going through a Max Lucado Bible Study, In the Footsteps of the Savior.
Come join author Robin Densmore Fuson as she tells us about her reading life Share on XI love fiction and read most genres. My favorite reads are works from authors I’ve met in person or attended their lectures, where I learned sage advice. I write honest reviews of all the books I read and post them every other week on book sites, social media, and my website. Reviews are waiting in my file and are posted months after I’ve read the book to keep my current workload lighter.
Graduation month is upon us. Last year two of our grandchildren graduated from High School. My husband and I gave them cash and, of course, a book. This year, three of our grandchildren are graduating from High School. I’m enjoying reading a book for the boys, who re graduating, on life lessons through the game of basketball, Shoot Your Shot by Vernon Brundage Jr. So far, it’s passed all my criteria so I’ll purchase a copy for each of them. Our granddaughter will be going to college to major in music. I bought her a music book with hymns and praise songs for her advanced piano skills. She’s proficient in reading the language of the composer and arranger and I’m sure she’ll make heartfelt music from the pages.
A few days ago, I pulled out a new read from my large TBR pile. Life Flight by Lynette Eason which I bought along with other books while attending Florida Christian Writers Conference. I’ve never been disappointed by books I’ve purchased at conferences and can’t wait to crack this one open and go on a romantic suspense adventure.
I love to get recommendations from friends and family. Authors I’ve read and enjoyed their work, I gravitate to as well. So, I’m never at a loss of what to read next.
My favorite place to read is the bathtub. The next favorite is lounging on my living room reclining sofa with a cup of tea and maybe a piece of chocolate. How about you? Where do you enjoy a good read?
