My Reading Life, by Dana R Lynn
Good morning, friends! I am so happy to be with you again. It’s funny, because every time I am here, I’m reading a different genre. It all depends on what life has thrown at me at a specific time.
Before May, I was reading some romantic suspense, both Love Inspired Suspense and some more thriller style books, such as The Garden Girls by Jessica R. Patch. Then June hit. It’s been a whirlwind summer. My older son got married on Saturday. I’m still recovering. While I’m over the moon happy for him and his wife, the weeks leading up to the event were exhausting. In addition to that, I had two back to back deadlines in July. Whew!
Since I was busy writing two romantic suspense stories, my reading has taken me into different genres. I still wanted romance, but I wanted romance that didn’t have any open door scenes. At the same time, I wanted quick stories that I could finish in a day or two, because I never knew how much time I’d have to read. So I turned to some category romance that always delivers vibrant, clean stories with an emotional punch, such as Rebecca Winters and Cara Colter. Both write for Harlequin Romance, but their stories are always sweet level. I also read several great Love Inspired books this summer. I always enjoy these stories. A few weeks ago, I discovered a new Harlequin line… Harlequin Heartwarming. Still sweet level and emotionally satisfying for all my fellow romance lovers!
Last week, though, I felt like I wanted something new and unique. I raided all my bookshelves and searched my e-reader apps. @brreaderconnect @danarlynn Share on X I found The Dragon Riders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey, a series I had read years ago as a teenager. They were just as amazing as when I’d read them years ago.
I also picked up Beast by Chawna Schroeder and was immediately hooked. I’m about two-thirds of the way through it. It is so unique and thought provoking. I am thoroughly enjoying it. When I’m finished with The Beast, The Nightmare Virus by Nadine Brandes in next on my TBR pile. I’ve heard some good things about it.
