My Reading Life – Maryann Landers

Are some of your favorite books part of a series? Do you love the overlapping themes, setting or characters? One of the things I enjoy most about a series is closing the last page of the book and knowing there is more to look forward to.

This past year I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Gabrielle Meyer’s Timeless Series. Wow, with a plot that thickens as it spans more than one time period, and characters that cross between and an overarching theme in both settings, each chapter the stakes hinge on every scene building to the end. Gabrielle intertwines faith-filled fiction and historical detail. If you love novels that transport you to a different time and place while also engaging you with the characters of the story with relatable struggles you may find these added to your summer reading list. The main characters live in pivotal points in history and the unique tension that women each faces challenged me of how I anticipate I might respond if I was in their situation.

Have you ever wondered what drives an author to weave tales of wonder and inspiration? For me, it’s a heartfelt mission to write stories that transport you to the beauty and authenticity of Alaska a place I’ve called home for over 24 years. I hope to deliver powerful narratives where authentic stories come to life. Each novel is rooted on a true story and enriched with my own unique experiences and of those I know.  My heart is to encourage and teach women using story telling as a platform. Do you relish in a story when your emotions are stirred and at the end it leaves an indelible mark on your soul?

Naturally, I choose to write the kind of stories I also enjoy to read, a series about adventurous women.

There is one more thing that I want from my writing. It’s you. I’d like to have an ongoing relationship with my readers. I’m excited to know how a story resonated with them, met them during a hard time or gave them inspiration. Will it be the rustic Alaskan setting? The authenticity of the out of the extraordinary? Or the deep rooted conflict each character faces and overcomes?

I love a well-written series, I hope to write endearing books and I’d like to know what you enjoy most about reading a series. Perhaps you juggle the order? Oh, wow I can’t wait to hear how you make it even more fun.

Alaskan based author Maryann Landers writes women’s faith filled fiction based on true stories of extraordinary women of her magnificent state. She loves to showcase the unique north and give her readers a little taste of rustic Alaska.

While writing in her log home in the woods she is also looking forward to her next adventure with her Alaskan husband, juggling mom tasks such as crafting homemade meals from moose and caribou meat, building DIY projects from scrap wood piles and guiding her teens in their homeschooling.

I enjoy a series; watching how the characters unfold. How they lean into God. I also love a good setting. I read just about anything that is set in Montana or Arkansas. I do love some Alaska too.
